Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster is coming in September 2024 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC

By Keith MitchellJuly 2, 2024

During Capcom’s Capcom NEXT, another rumor came true, with the official announcement of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster.

This is a remaster of the zombie action title Dead Rising 2006 that was released for the Xbox 360 and will include several enhancements such as visual updates with up to 4K and 60 frames per second support, improved UI, revamped controls, and auto-saving. Perhaps the biggest addition is that Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be fully voiced for “improved immersion. Capcom also revealed that the game will use the RE Engine, which is Capcom’s latest game engine. The game will be released as a digital version during the launch, followed by a physical edition in November 2024, both priced at $49.99.

So far, it sounds pretty good. Fans of the original game, however, are a tad upset due to the original voice actor for the Dead Rising star, Terence Rotolo, not returning. As for why, Rotolo explained to a fan who contacted him regarding the matter that Capcom didn’t reach out to him regarding the project.

“The answer to your question is I have no answer,” Rotolo said. “All I can say is that I’ve always been grateful for every opportunity to help bring Frank to life. An actor’s job when called upon is to show up prepared, deliver your best, and when done, move on to the next mission. I simply wasn’t called for this mission. The reasons are the producers’ own.”

As someone who enjoyed the Dead Rising series and eventually got my son hooked on them, this is quite a shame. I thought Rotolo brought a certain charm to the game, and him not being part of something he helped make great is sad. Here’s to hoping whoever ends up voicing Frank West is able to get close to Rotolo’s performance.

Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), on September 19, 2024, as a digital-only title, followed by a physical version release in November 2024.
