Visual Novel Company Nitroplus to be Purchased by CyberAgent

It was announced that CyberAgent will acquire Nitroplus, most famous for creating visual novels, for ¥16.7 Billion ($104 Million). The sale is expected to give CyberAgent 72.5% controlling stake in Nitroplus as of July 1, 2024.

In a statement, Nitroplus founder and CEO, Takaki Kosaka, said that he and vice president Gen Urobuch will remain part of the company for the foreseeable future. This includes all current Nitroplus staff.

Nitroplus was the launching pad for Gen Urobuchi and even partnered with 5pb to produce Chaos;Head and Steins;Gate. CyberAgent also established CyGames in 2011 and is responsible for titles such as Rage of Bahamut and Granblue Fantasy. In 2015, they expanded into anime production with Cygames Pictures.
