Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, recently addressed the absence of a PC release announcement for the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6. Despite the game’s confirmed release for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in 2025, PC gamers are left wondering about their turn.
During a TD Cowen conference (thanks VGC), Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick spoke about the situation. When asked if the lack of a PC announcement was final, Zelnick responded, “The lack of an announcement is not something that could be set in stone. Either an announcement will come, or it won’t.”
Zelnick emphasized that Rockstar has a strategic approach to platform announcements and more details will be shared in due time. He noted, “Historically, Rockstar addresses consumers on any platform that makes sense over time.”
Rockstar’s past releases suggest a console-first strategy, followed by a later PC release. Titles like Grand Theft Auto 4, Grand Theft Auto 5, LA Noire, and Red Dead Redemption 2 followed this pattern. Grand Theft Auto 5, for instance, launched on PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2013 and reached PC in 2015. This pattern leaves room for optimism among PC gamers.
Take-Two remains confident about the game’s planned release window. Zelnick stated, “We are highly confident in the timing for an autumn 2025 release.” While delays are common in the industry, he assured that GTA 6 is on track.
PC gamers will have to wait a bit longer for official news, but history suggests that patience may be rewarded.
