For you Dynasty Warriors fans, a new Dynasty Warriors game, Dynasty Warriors: Origins, was showcased during the May 2024 State of Play. You probably have questions if you watched the State of Play video announcing the game. So now it’s time for some answers.
What is Dynasty Warriors: Origins?
The creative team at Omega Force and Koei Tecmo is developing what appears to be a prequel to the Three Kingdoms’ War that engulfed China. It’s set to follow a Nameless Hero.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins is a stealth prequel (chronologically) to the rest of the Dynasty Warriors series (like Dynasty Warriors 9). This, in turn, is a sequel to Koei Tecmo’s Romance of the Three Kingdoms series. A current release window sets the game for release at some point in 2025 for PS5 players.
Throughout the game, players will be forced to act fast as the unprecedented size and scale of enemy armies overwhelm the battlefield. Coordination with allied armies is key as players deploy battle tactics in real time while slicing through waves of soldiers in the most tension-filled fights in DYNASTY WARRIORS history!
In addition, for the first time in a DYNASTY WARRIORS title, the storyline will be told through the eyes of a “nameless hero”. Play through the historical tale of war as chaos erupts throughout the Three Kingdoms, showcasing the vast lands of China and its most ruthless generals like never before!
As stated above, in 2025, PS5 Players will be able to feel the intensity of overpowering thousands of nameless soldiers as an Overpowered nameless hero in crispy, buttery-smooth 60FPS. Does FPS matter, though?
For me, it doesn’t. I’m excited to play the game and see if it’s good or not – Excellent FPS or otherwise.

What is The Dynasty Warriors series? Before becoming an action-RPG, Hack-and-Slash, Beat-em-up series, Dynasty Warriors was initially a fighting game. The first game, Dynasty Warriors, was a one-on-one fighting game where all combat was weapons-based, and “blocking” attacks involved parrying them at the same height and timing.
Dynasty Warriors: Origins will be released on the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC in 2025.
