The Nomad is the first Mobile Gaming Controller from SCUF for iPhone

By Keith MitchellMay 29, 2024

After seeing Razer, Backbone, GameSir, and other manufacturers enter the mobile game controller market, SCUF has had enough and is releasing its own mobile game controller, the SCUF Nomad. This device is priced at $99.99 and is available for pre-orders starting today.

The SCUF Nomad will be available for iPhones that support iOS 16 and up. It will connect via Bluetooth and feature a USB-C port for charging. Sadly, the Nomad won’t work with Android devices.

The Nomad will also feature two anti-direct analog sticks that utilize Hall effect tech, a D-pad, four front-facing buttons, home and menu buttons, a record and share button, and two rear customizable paddles. A downloadable app will let you save profiles for your favorite games, fine-tune the thumbstick’s sensitivity, and adjust your triggers. SCUF claims that the Nomad has up to 16 hours of battery life. It also comes in two colors: white and black.

Here’s everything that the SCUF Nomad features:

  • Customizable Rear Paddles
  • Anti-drift Thumbsticks
  • Designed for Maximum Comfort
  • Compatible With Many Cases
  • Subscription Free App
  • Record and Share
  • Up to 16 Hours of Battery Life

It’s interesting to see that it took SCUF this long to break into this market. Still, after seeing the success of other companies releasing mobile gaming controllers, I’d imagine someone asked what SCUF wasn’t doing as of now. With the Nomad being released for iPhone, I hope that SCUF eventually updates the device so it works with Android or an Android version eventually gets released. You can have something available for iPhone and ignore the Android smartphone market.

With so many other mobile gaming controllers on the market, I wonder if SCUF will be able to stand out. Regardless, it’s new gaming tech, and I can’t wait to see how it performs. While I don’t have an iPhone, many people in my household do. I’m sure they won’t notice I’ve shanghaied there for some impression time.
