Archaeogem is a Fun Yet Frustrating Platfomer that’s Relasing on PC Soon

You know we love Indie games here on The Outerhaven, and there’s an upcoming title called Archaeogem that I’m sure will grab your attention just as much as it grabbed mine. This is yet another project from Gagonfe, a one-person game developer who also developed Doomed to Hell, a game that my son introduced me to back in 2022.

Archaeogem is an upcoming pixel art platforming title in which players will head off into an unexplored location and use their wits and skills to collect gems without falling prey to dangerous environmental hazards such as spikes, moving platforms, and the always-fun, falling to their deaths.

However, Archoeogem is far from a simple platformer. You’ll need to utilize a particular flower that allows you to jump further than you could normally, reach other platforms, retrieve keys, and more. Sounds easy, right? Except, as I’ve found out, it’s anything but that.

Thanks to the demo available on Steam, I’ve spent a few hours playing Archaeogem on my Steam Deck; even though the game isn’t rated for it and works just fine, I must add that I’ve immensely enjoyed the demo. It’s a fun but frustrating game due to the number of times you’ll die, but it’s still fun. Well, I’ve found my next guilty pleasure.

Archaeogem will be released on May 17, 2024, for the PC on Steam, and you can wishlist the game ahead of its release.
