Capcom Previews Street Fighter 6’s Akuma Ahead of His Release

By Kevin KellyMarch 12, 2024

As predicted, Akuma’s Street Fighter 6 look and what possibly could be his stage has been revealed today at the Capcom Highlights 2 session. The Master of the Supreme Fist has been in the series since Super Street Fighter 2 and has made appearances in each series ever since.

Surpassing his master and also his own brother, Akuma has returned. Takayuki Nakayama – the producer of Street Fighter 6, joined in and explained Akuma’s new appearance. Donning gray hair more times than his original red, Akuma is showing his age. His menacing stage, Gokuento, will also be available in World Tour mode where he will teach your avatar some of his destructive wares.

As to what his moveset will look like, there is not much to be revealed yet. In most games, Akuma is a glass cannon character with specials that vary from Ken and Ryu’s arsenal. There’s only a guess that he’ll possibly borrow moves from his Street Fighter V appearance. His infamous Super Art, Shun Goku Satsu, is most likely to also be coming back. We’ll possibly be seeing his full trailer soon with more ideas as to how his moveset will look. Year 2 content has also been confirmed to be in development.

The show also revealed more information in regards to the Capcom Pro Tour, Capcom Cup XI, andStreet Fighter League returning in the summer.

Street Fighter 6 is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
