Devil Jin Flies Into Tekken 8 With A Trailer

By Kevin KellyJanuary 25, 2024

Devil Jin has made his appearance known in Tekken 8. At first, we thought he had already gone in terms of the trailer, but Bandai Namco decided to give us his trailer last. It’s fitting for the supposed “savior of humanity” to step out of the shadows as the final base roster character. All to go toe-to-horn with his father, Kazuya Mishima, in a climatic battle for the world’s fate.

Devil Jin made his first appearance in Tekken 3 after being betrayed by his grandfather after his debut and tournament win. The point-blank gunshot from Heihachi allowed Devil Jin to manifest and escape from Heihachi and the Tekken Forces of the Mishima Zaibatsu. Since then, Jin has been trying to find ways to get rid of his evil persona. Even attempting to bring about an ancient Middle Eastern evil through world war chaos was not enough in Tekken 6.  Devil Jin was first playable in Tekken 5. Usually, in main timeline games, either Devil Jin or Devil Kazuya will fill the roster.

Evil Laser Beam Combos

With flight, a third eye laser, and that evil cackle, Devil Jin is a force to reckon with. It seems as though the flight to keep moves together is by default without the use of Heat Mode. Devil Jin has a bit of a force grab, as seen in action on his mother, Jun. His claw attacks are mostly high to mid. The kick Heat Mode activation move high kick may be the most effective I’ve seen for a nice counterattack. The eye laser is a signature move since Tekken 2 on those with the Devil gene, but Jin’s use seems to extend things and push a significant amount of distance after the hit. Devil Jin’s Rage Art is probably the reason why Tekken 8 is constantly using the chain links, as he shows several dark chains to ensnare his foes.

Devil Jin will be available on January 26th as a base roster character along with Tekken 8. Be sure to check out our Tekken 8 review while you wait for Tekken 8 to be released.
