It Girl – Did Pharrell just come out with an Anime Music Video?

By Holland CulbreathOctober 1, 2014

It Girl - Pharrell Williams

Okay, this pop music It Girl track is a bit beyond my usual scope when it comes to articles on this site. But this is so out there that I think it’s pretty much beyond any scope. This video is on some classic anime beach vacation episode feel mixed with a Scott Pilgrim vs. The World video game vibe, plus an old school 16-bit graphics text based adventure like Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?, or something. With a side of whatever it is that Pharrell must have been smoking, cause wow. But I can’t say that I don’t want some!

I have to admit, I’ve had an affinity for anime styled music videos ever since Daft Punk with Interstella 5555. Plus, the It Girl sound is classic Pharrell, from the smooth, candy sweet melodies to the standard boo loving subject matter. I’m a fan, though I doubt the song will come anywhere close to what Happy was. (Did you know that Pharrell’s group N.E.R.D. had a track called Happy long before Despicable Me 2?)

But I digress, this is about the video. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you It Girl.
