Surprise! The next version of Windows is Windows 10

I don’t know what’s going on at Microsoft HQ in Redmond, but apparently it’s not math. Earlier today Microsoft held a presentation for which many expected to be the official announcement of Windows 9, until Microsoft pulled a fast one and officially announced that their next OS called Windows 10.

Supposedly Windows 10 will bring the return of the Start Button, the addition of true multiple desktops (Windows can be done via a 3rd party application), a beefed up Snap function similar to the Xbox One’s and many other enhancements. It seems Microsoft also wants to undo the damage of their OS fragmentation (Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows RT ,Windows Phone and Windows Server) as they have confirmed that Windows 10 will cover not just the desktop but also phones, tablets and even in the enterprise and datacenters.

Another big push of Windows 10 is Microsoft’s transition to move just about everything to the cloud as well as other platforms, similar to how many popular Microsoft applications are now available for iOS, Android and Chrome.

Hopefully consumers and professionals will be able to partake with the upcoming development editions of Windows 10 sooner than later and will be able to offer useful critique.
