Ubisoft reveals Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora PC system requirements

By Keith MitchellOctober 30, 2023

Earlier today, several reveals for Ubisoft’s upcoming title, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, went live. Around the same time, the developer and publisher also revealed the PC specs required to play the game. And seeing how I’m the resident PC gamer here, I figured I’d take a look to see what system requirements are for players looking to take the trip to Pandora.

Overall, I’m impressed with the requirements. On the CPU end of things, these are pretty common processors and have been available for two years or longer. While the GPUs are on the light end of things, at least at 1080p. When it gets to 1440p and 4K, the GPUs require a bit more oomph; if we’re being honest, that’s still fairly decent. In addition, the game will also support Nvidia’s DLSS, Intel’s XeSS, AMD’s FSR 3, and ultrawide monitors.

Of course, the 90GB SSD requirement is a bit of a stretch for many, but as I stated before, the industry is moving away from mechanical HDs, and SSDs are the future. It’s time to get on board. But what’s interesting is that the game only requires 16GB for all settings, and that’s decent. I’d imagine that’s due to Ubisoft’s Snowdrop game engine being reasonably optimized compared to Ubisoft’s prior game engines. I’m interested to see how Massive Entertainment manages to put the game engine to use.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora includes Raytraced Reflections and shadows for more immersive environmental exploration and extended graphic settings that will allow for granular tweaks to a multitude of visuals such as environment reflection quality and distant shadows. The game will even include a benchmark tool, so you can see if you’re PC is up to the task before you have to start changing settings or run out and purchase new parts.

In Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, players will assume the role of an unnamed Na’vi who was abducted as an infant by the RDA (Resources Development Administration) and trained in The Ambassador Program (TAP) to serve human interests on Pandora. When the RDA evacuated Pandora during the Battle of the Hallelujah Mountains, which took place in the first movie. During this event, the Na’vi you play as was put into emergency cryosleep. Awakening 15 years later and finally free from the RDA, you’ll navigate the world of Pandora, which is alien to you.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora will be released on December 7, 2023, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Amazon Luna.
