It’s “Too Early” To Say Whether Ubisoft Will Greenlight Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope Sequel

Last year was a big year for 3rd-party titles on the Nintendo Switch, with numerous exclusives and big-name ports coming to the console in a short span of time. One of them was the highly-anticipated sequel in the Mario/Rabbids crossover via Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope. The game was a big hit with gamers and critics (read our review!), who praised the Ubisoft team for expanding and improving everything the first game had done. However, the higher-ups at Ubisoft weren’t “as impressed” by things, and so the series is in a state of limbo.

The mastermind behind the series, Davide Soliani, talked with Nintendo Everything about whether a third game could/will be made, and he noted it might be “too soon” to tell:

I love Nintendo, I love my team, and I love what we did so if there would be a chance to continue somehow, someday, why not? But right now it’s too early to say anything because we just finished a four-year cycle of development with the main game and the DLC. And now it’s time to think about the future. But it’s too early to say something.

It’s true. The Rayman DLC that ended everything only came out recently, and curiously, we don’t know how well Mario + Rabbids Sparks Of Hope has sold on Switch. Hopefully, the team gets a chance to do one more round because they clearly have ideas still in their think tank.
