Sony Brings MANGA to NYC with Free Immersive Art Exhibit

By Josh PiedraOctober 17, 2023

Manga is on the rise in the U.S. and Sony is bringing a new immersive experience to New York to celebrate. Featuring Sony’s latest technologies and the artwork of six groups of Japanese artists, Ginza Sony Park’s free exhibit will stimulate all senses, fusing tech and art in a never-before-seen way. At MANGA in New York, visitors can enjoy the world of manga as it jumps out of the pages and gains a unique, sci-fi feel.

The exhibit is slated to be open starting Friday, October 27, to Sunday, November 5, 2023.

Fans can expect a unique experience found nowhere else that will elevate and honor manga. There will be a live-drawing performance by world-famous illustrator and manga artist Katsuya Terada. Director Masanobu Hiraoka will lead animation workshops geared towards children, and there will also be specially-designed drinks stocked in the vending machines which aims to bring a big part of Japanese culture to the U.S.!

The event will include Sony’s proprietary technologies: the Tensor Valve™, an olfactive control technology to enable the sensory experience, and Active Slate equipped with Haptics to transform the floors into a sci-fi spectacle.

If you are going to be in New York City, you can stop by and check out the exhibit at the following address:

Studio 525
W 24th St.
New York, NY 10011
