Pikmin 4 Programmer Reveals Truth Behind Games Years-Long Delay

By Todd BlackOctober 2, 2023

2023 has been a big year for Nintendo, and that has led gamers to get many epic titles for the Nintendo Switch. But one of the biggest surprise hits has been Pikmin 4! The game FINALLY came out after years of being “close to done,” and it’s been selling rather well! But the question among fans remains, “Why did it take so long to get released?” Well, we now know the answer to that!

In an interview with Game Informer, Pikmin 4 programming director Yuji Kando said the following:

As we made several attempts and tried out various things, there were moments when we could see the game take shape, but since we had to prioritize other projects, we weren’t able to create the development team framework needed to complete the game. But the fruits of our labor during that time lead to the result of what Pikmin 4 is today.

That certainly does reveal a lot about the game and why it took years to finally complete. But, as Shigeru Miyamoto has said, a rushed game will always be bad, and a delayed game could end up good. And that’s exactly what we got here.
