What You Need to Know About the Mortal Kombat 1 Beta

We’re ever so close to the Mortal Kombat 1 beta launch, which will take place from August 18 – August 21, 2023, for the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. If you’ve preordered the game, you’ll be guaranteed Mortal Kombat 1 beta access via a beta code. Otherwise, you might find yourself among the others begging for a code in the upcoming weeks.

As for the beta, WB and Netherrealm have plenty in store for those looking forward to playing Mortal Kombat 1. There are a lot of fighters to pick from, as well as a few other things. So we figured we’d break down who and what will be included in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1 beta.

How do I get a Mortal Kombat 1 beta code?

The only way to get a Mortal Kombat 1 beta code is to preorder the game at retailers. This includes Amazon, Best Buy, and Gamestop. It doesn’t matter what version of the game you preorder, the Standard, Premium, or Kollector’s Edition of Mortal Kombat 1. You’ll also get Shang Tsung, as he is only available if you preorder the game.

In addition, I’m sure WB and Netherrealm Studios will be handing out codes for the beta over social media.

Sadly, PC gamers have been left out of the beta action. Likely due to games being data mined from their betas and leaking information that the developers don’t want to be released. The Nintendo Switch also isn’t joining in on the fun.

Who’ll be playable in the Mortal Kombat 1 beta?

The Mortal Kombat 1 beta will have slightly more playable characters than the Mortal Kombat 1 stress test, but it’s still lacking. Below, you’ll see which playable characters, Kameo Fighters and stages will be available in the beta.

Hopefully, we’ll be able to change a few things in the options this time.

Playable Characters

  • Johnny Cage
  • Kenshi
  • Kitana
  • Li Mei
  • Liu Kang
  • Sub-Zero

Kameos Fighters

  • Frost
  • Jax
  • Kano
  • Sonya

Stages

  • Johnny Cage’s Mansion (seen in the stress test)
  • The Teahouse

We already have access, and we’re looking to play the heck out Mortal Kombat 1. Hopefully, I’ll win a few more games this time. But either way, I’ll have fun (hopefully) doing so.
