Cult Classic Title Clock Tower Will Finally be Localized Thanks to Wayforward

By Keith MitchellJuly 12, 2023
Clock Tower Wayforward

Wayforward Games has revealed that it is working on bringing a cult classic horror game, Clock Tower, over to modern consoles and PC. This was announced during the Limited Run Games LRG2023 Summer Showcase that took place on July 12, 2023.

The groundbreaking 16-bit survival-horror game, Clock Tower, returns on modern consoles and PC! Experience classic point-and-click gameplay powered by Limited Run Games’ Carbon Engine as you attempt to escape the Barrows family manor and evade the murderous Scissorman, accompanied by new features like an animated intro, motion-comic cutscenes, theme song by Mary McGlynn, and more.

Clock Tower was first released back in 1995 for the Super Nintendo, and since then has been ported to various other platforms. However, it was never localized for the Western audience. Thanks to Wayforward, this is all going to change and will be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC sometime in 2024.

Listening to the Wayforward talk about their experiences with the game prior to getting their hands on it and what they plan on doing to it tells me they are passionate about this project. It also tells me that this won’t be a simple port, and now I’m wondering just how different this version will be compared to the original game. This has me wondering how fans of the original game will latch onto this modern take on the game. I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.
