Hatsune Miku Makes Her First Appearance as a Yoshitoku x F:NEX Japanese Doll Figure

By Josh PiedraMay 25, 2023

FURYU Corporation has announced the release of the “Hatsune Miku – Japanese Doll 1/4 Scale Figure” as a new product of its high-quality hobby brand “F:NEX”. This figure is a collaboration with the traditional doll maker Yoshitoku. It is now available for pre-order on the e-commerce site “amiami” (URL: https://www.amiami.com/eng/detail/?gcode=FIGURE-152444).

Hatsune Miku is a software and character created by Crypton Future Media Inc. It allows for the input of lyrics and melodies for her to sing. Hatsune Miku is well-known in Japan and all over the world.

This time, F:NEX has collaborated with the popular doll maker Yoshitoku to create a Japanese doll figure based on an original artwork by illustrator Fuzichoko. In Japanese culture, the word “hatsune” originally refers to the first chirps of the year for birds or insects, especially bush warblers. This figure is carefully crafted to express the modesty associated with this term. The kimono is a distinctive feature of the figure. The fabric of the furisode section has been tested repeatedly so that the patterns match even across sewing lines. Gold foil stamping has been applied to create a glittering gold shine. The kimono is then dyed using the traditional yuzen technique, with each color carefully applied one by one using a mold. The green kimono is dyed with 12 colors, and the blue kimono is dyed with 11 colors. Craftsmen have invested a significant amount of time and effort to produce a distinct deep hue. The expression also faithfully reflects the illustration, with jewel-like eyes that sparkle in the light, cheeks with a hint of vermilion, and cherry-red lips, creating a gentle impression. With a focus on Japanese culture and tradition, and meticulous attention to detail, this Hatsune Miku figure is truly an exquisite masterpiece.
