Gears 5 playable with Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service

By Keith MitchellMay 18, 2023
GeForce Now

While Microsoft/Xbox are facing some issues over their cloud gaming service with the CMA and its 69 billion dollar bid to acquire Activision-Blizzard, the company is still doing what it can to bring its games to the masses. Recently, Xbox has announced that it is working with Nvidia to bring several Xbox-published titles, starting with Gears 5, to GeForce Now cloud gaming service, and will be available as of May 18, 2023.

Starting today, NVIDIA GeForce Now members can stream Gears 5! With Deathloop, Grounded & Pentiment on May 25. Just the first step in our commitment to making our PC games globally available through a variety of cloud gaming services. More on the blog: https://t.co/BYmEqFqGOk pic.twitter.com/l2WDTldLUv

Other Xbox-published titles such as Grounded, Deathloop, and Pentiment will make their way to Nvidia’s GeForce Now as of May 25, 2023. These will be the beginning of Xbox’s and Nvidia’s collaboration, and many more titles will see their way over to yet another cloud gaming service.

With this collaboration, I wonder if this will eventually include Gamepass games and will Xbox published games arrive on the service on release day. I suppose we’ll have to wait to find out.

Gears 5

Nvidia’s GeForce Now cloud gaming service initially had a rocky start due to various publishers requesting the service to remove most, if not all, of their games from it. However, things have improved for GeForce Now, and it continues to be one of the better PC cloud gaming services available.

Currently, the GeForce Now service was upgraded within the past year and now utilizes RTX 4080s GPUs and provides even better performance than it ever has. Despite having an RTX 4000 series GPU in my gaming PC, I gave GeForce Now a try and gave away impressed. It’s a great service when you’re away from your PC or even if you don’t have access to a high-performing PC.
