New Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse trailer Shows More Story and More Spider-People

Today, Sony released a new trailer for its upcoming Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, the follow-up to 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, a two-parter, with the first part releasing this June 2023.

This trailer gives us a better look at the story and introduces the villain called “The Spot,” a bunch of spider people, including Peter Parker and his daughter May Day who first appeared in Marvel’s What If issue 105.

We also get a better look at Spider-Man 2099 / Miguel O’Hara, who we saw at the end of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and he’s as angry as we saw in the last trailer. It would seem he’s formed a team of elite spider-people. Apparently, he’s upset at Miles Morales because he still has both of his parents and hasn’t had an “Uncle Ben” experience. We also get the whole “You can’t save everyone” that Peter Park Spider-Man has experienced in the comics and the theme of the first movie. I hope this doesn’t cheapen the death of Uncle Aaron, who Miles was perhaps closer to than his own father.

He’s also really upset at Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Doctor Strange, as he threw some shade at their recent outing in Spider-Man: No Way Home on Earth-19999.

Oh, and of course, they couldn’t do without the classic Spider-Man meme.

Everything so far looks like this upcoming movie will surpass everything Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and as a long-time fan of Spider-Man, I can’t wait to see it.

The first part of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse releases in theaters on June 6, 2023.
