The Crew locked at 30FPS across all systems, will support 60FPS via config file changes

The-Crew

Here we go again everybody! Yet again we’re hearing the oh so familiar words that no one with a current generation system (PlayStation 4 / Xbox One / PC) wants to hear; Locked 30 FPS! The word is that Ubisoft has locked the FPS in their upcoming cross country racer, The Crew, to a set 1080p / 30 FPS across all platforms and 5760 x 1080p for triple screen PC setups.

However if you’re picking the game up on the PC there is hope as you can manually force the FPS to 60 via a configuration file change, but that’s it. No support for higher fresh rate monitors (120fps / 144fps). In this day and age we shouldn’t be forced into a sub-par FPS, should we? It’s that why we picked up the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, for higher resolution and better FPS among other reasons? This isn’t a cross generation title either so what gives?

As a huge PC gamer I find this entire situation pretty damned sad and expected a lot more from what is supposed to be Ubisoft’s next-generation flagship title. I guess we’ll have to see what happens to Assassin’s Creed: Unity’s FPS and resolution now as well.

Ubisoft’s open-world MMO racer The Crew will arrive on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on November 11th, but due to the changes are you still interested in it?
