Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Has Gone Gold, Gotten Deep Gameplay Preview!

Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

It was big news when it was announced that Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom would be getting a special Direct to focus on the title’s gameplay. Many people wanted more from Nintendo on this front, and they delivered it today. But before the Direct dove into that, producer Eiji Aonuma revealed that the game had officially gone gold! That reaffirms the May 12th release date, and it’s something that will let fans breathe a sigh of relief. But let’s dive into what was revealed, shall we?

First off, Hyrule looks as massive as ever. During one aerial shot, you could see plenty of places to go. There was also a shot of a dragon looming around the sky. If you know, you know. Aonuma focused mostly on the “Sky Islands” that are now littered above Hyrule. It’s there we learned about three new abilities that Link has through his new arm. The first is called “Recall.” Link will be able to reverse time and force objects to return to where they were. Such as, if a block from the sky fell to the ground, you can send it right back up and thus have a way to get to the Sky Islands.

Then, there’s “Fuse,” an ability that’ll let you combine objects to make various things. It’s through this ability that you can make special weapons or even craft makeshift vehicles! Finally, there’s “Ascend”, which will let you go through ceilings so long as there is something above them worth landing on. That will help you climb up areas without having to scale them, making it easier to get to where you want to go.

You can check out the full preview below and get Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom in May.
