Dragon Ball Z Kakarot to Receive Next-Gen Updates in January 2023

By Keith MitchellDecember 13, 2022

Bandai Namco has revealed that it will release next-generation (shouldn’t that be called current-generation?) versions of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot for the PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on June 13th, 2023. Pre-orders for the next-gen versions will be going up shortly.

Previously, the title was released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. While you’re able to play the game on the next-gen consoles, the games didn’t take advantage of newer hardware or power. With the next-gen versions, Dragon Ball Z Kakarot will provide faster loading times, updated visual details, and fluid gameplay of up to 60 frames per second.

Those who already own the PS4 or Xbox One versions of the game will receive free updates for the next-generation versions as well.  So you don’t have to worry about forking out the cash for the game, again.

Card Warriors, the card game that you can play within Dragon Ball Z Kakarot, will also be included in the next-gen versions, as an offline-only addition. Prior, Card Warriors was an online-only affair, but as of this past weekend, Bandai Namco had mentioned they were terminating the online service for Dragon Ball Card Warriors in 2023.

Released alongside the next-gen versions of Dragon Ball Z Kakarot will be the fourth DLC for the game, BARDOCK – Alone Against Fate. Just like in the anime movie, Dragon Ball Z: Bardock – The Father of Goku, the father of Goku will  battle to defend Planet Vegeta,  against Frieza and his forces.
