EA Motive Releases 18-minutes of Dead Space Remake Gameplay

By Keith MitchellDecember 5, 2022
Dead Space remake

IGN has posted new gameplay footage of the upcoming Dead Space remake, and damn, does it look good. It looks like a totally different game.

This gameplay is from the first minutes of the game, where we can not only see the new graphics but also hear Isacc Clark speak. Though I’ll be honest, hearing Isacc speak is a bit odd. Odd, but not unwelcomed.

I was already super hyped when I heard about EA giving the green light to remake the original Dead Space game, given the history with Visceral Studios. I love how Motive Studio has been so transparent on what they’re doing with the game, and not having it a complete 1:1 remake. Think of what Capcom did to the Resident Evil 2 remake.

Things are the same, but some extra touches are being implemented, such as an updated audio system, new dismemberment system that now allows for the flesh to be shot straight off of the Necromorph’s bodies. There will also be new story bits, side quests, and areas. Players will also be able to traverse the whole of the US Ishimura, and get beat down by the new intensity director. As a massive fan of Dead Space, I am really looking forward to this.

And who knows? If this does well, maybe we’ll get a Dead Space 2 remake. Maybe even possibly righting the wrong, that is Dead Space 3, and finally giving us that DLC or possibly A proper end of the series. But I digress, I’m getting ahead of myself here.

The Dead Space remake releases on January 27, 2023, and will be a next-gen (current-gen?) affair, so it will only be released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
