Razer Unveils its First PS5 Controller with the Wolverine V2 Pro

If you’re a PlayStation 5 owner and are on the hunt for yet another customized controller, then Razer may have what you’re looking for with its Razer Wolverine V2 Pro controller, priced at $249.99.  While the PS5 doesn’t have a shortage of customized controllers, Razer wants to bring yet another one to the party, and is the company’s first PS5/PC controller.

The Razer Wolverine V2 Pro is currently available for preorder at Razer’s website, or exclusively at Gamestop locations, starting today. However, there’s no mention of when the controller will ship, outside of the placeholder December 31st, 2022, date.

Still, it looks like the Razer Wolervine is bringing a lot to the table. The controller looks similar to the Razer V2 Chroma while sporting a black-and-white color scheme, and some spiffy upgrades. Most notable are the offset analog sticks, which are more similar to an Xbox controller than a PlayStation controller, 8-way microswitch d-pad, rear buttons, and for the first time, this Wolverine controller will be wireless.

While previous Wolverine controllers for the Xbox and PC, have been wired, the Razer Wolverine V2 Pro will be wireless and will use a 2.4GHz USB dongle. Or you can use it via a USB-C cable if you’re not a fan of wireless controllers.

The Wolverine V2 Pro will appeal to those who enjoy first-person shooters and racing titles, as gamers can switch from measured full-range pulls for acceleration in racing games to lightning-quick clicks for quickfire execution that feel like the actuation in Razer’s acclaimed gaming mice. That’s not all, as the controller also includes six remappable tactile buttons, which produce a clicky sound when pressed, similar to the Razer Kishi V2, interchangeable thumbsticks, and to finish things off, gamers can personalize the controller using Razer’s Chroma RGB feature.

On paper, it seems that the Wolverine V2 Pro has everything that a PlayStation gamer (or PC) could want in a PS5 controller. However, the slight change in analog stick positioning might be troublesome for some.

However, the price could be another concern, with the Hexgaming and Scuf controllers costing considerably less. While PlayStation’s own PS5 pro controller, the DualSense Edge, is also launching in Q1 2023. Still, it’s nice to see more competition in the PS5 customized controller area.
