Resident Evil Village Gold Trial May Not Work If You Have Resident Evil Village Installed

During the October 2022 Resident Evil Showcase, Capcom announced that it had released a short-timed trial of Resident Evil Village Gold, for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This trial gives players the option to play the upcoming Resident Evil Village Gold with the newly added 3rd-person view, and honestly is the only reason to check it out. I gave it a try last night, and while it took a bit to get used to it, I enjoyed it.

However, I noticed that if you already own Resident Evil Village, the trial doesn’t work, at least on Steam. When I installed it, it kept launching the Resident Evil Village instead of the trial. This makes sense as it is a trial, not a demo, and since you already own the game. You may not have the same issue that I did. But if you do, this is how you fix it.

How you get the Resident Evil Village Gold Trial to work if you already have the full game.

Ready? You just uninstall your copy of Resident Evil Village. Granted, this may not be the best way for those who capped bandwidth or have slow internet access. If you ask me if it’s worth it to play the trial, I don’t think it is. I’d go as far as not to recommend you do it — unless you’ve beaten the game. Otherwise, give it a try.

The trial is a 60-minute gameplay deal, so you can only play for an hour, and then it locks you out. I’m sure someone will devise a method to beat the clock so that you can play through it repeatedly. Though, there’s not much in the trial in the first place.

Resident Evil Village Gold includes the full version of Resident Evil Village, Winters’ Expansion additional content, Trauma Pack DLC, and access to the Resident Evil Re:Verse online game.

Resident Evil Village Gold releases on October 28th, 2022, for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
