PlayStation’s DualSense Edge Priced at $200, Releases in January 2023

A few months back, PlayStation revealed it was working on its customized gaming controller, the DualSense Edge. Similar to the Xbox Elite controller, this controller was a significant upgrade to the DualSense controller and even rivals the Scuf and Hexgaming controllers. Now, we know a bit more about this controller. The DualSense Edge will be released on January 26th, 2023, and is priced at $200.

According to Sony, the DualSense Edge will go up for pre-order as of October 25th, 2022.

The DualSense Edge will come packaged with a white hardshell case with the PlayStation on top, a USB to USB-C cable for charging duties, 2x standard caps,  2x high dome caps, 2x low dome caps, 2x half dome back buttons, and 2x lever back buttons.

DualSense Edge includes

The DualSense Edge will include the same buttons as the original DualSense controller, plus more. Both analog sticks will come with swappable caps, while the rear will include swappable back buttons.  The triggers will include multiple adjustment levels, which is great for playing different games.

The DualSense Edge will feature the ability to customize your control scheme on the fly, thanks to the software-based customization options. It will also include the ability to save multiple control profiles.

A new button called “Fn” will allow you to swap between your already customized profiles, change in-game volume, and chat volume. This is something I haven’t seen on any custom or premium controller.

As for if the controller is too expensive, yes and no. If you’ve seen the Scuf controller, Hexgaming controller or Xbox’s own Elite controller, the $200 price point seems to be the sweet spot. If you’re not used to expensive controllers, then most definitely, this is pricey. I’m also slightly disappointed that there’s no news of an upgraded battery especially since the DualSense battery does tend to die after 4-5 hours of gaming.

We’ll be looking to purchase one and put it through the paces once they are released and let you know.w
