Ed Sheeran Drops Pokemon-Themed Track In “Celestial”

By Todd BlackSeptember 29, 2022
Ed Sheeran, Celestial

When it was announced that Ed Sheeran was doing a Pokemon-theme music track and video, people were both excited and skeptical. We’ve been down this road before as we noted on the last episode of the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast. Other people have done these collaborations and the ties to Pokemon have been loose at best. And no, just having a Pokemon in the music video isn’t enough. But with the song “Celestial”, we might be on the verge of something truly collaborative.

Because on one hand, Ed Sheeran goes all out in the music video with how Pokemon are represented, and he shows off his love of the games, characters, and anime from basically start to finish. You’ll love the animation bits and the references to the franchise as a whole. Now, as for the lyrics, there are loose ties to the Pokemon world, and you’ll definitely make your own connections. But the song is such a banger that you might not mind. Check out “Celestial” below!
