The Story

After a volume in the rabbitfolk village, we return to an episodic format!

First off, Framea is charged with being a tour guide for Carrera, Ultima, and Testarossa! Their demeanor makes this a rather nervous mission for Framea but Rimuru rewards her with a certain ticket for her troubles. This leads us until the next chapter where she uses the ticket to gain entry to a lounge where she runs into Masayuki who is having a bit of an issue dealing with his fame and being classified as the lightspeed hero. After dealing with the trio, Framea is worn out as well. The two of them drown their sorrows in alcohol!

Turns out they’ll need it because in the next chapter, we’re at war!! That escalated quickly… However, despite Veldora pledging to defend the land, we don’t even see any battling. Instead, Framea is out wandering the streets when she spies a rabbitfolk child wandering around aimlessly and lost. That’s when she realized that Rimuru evacuated the rabbitfolk to Tempest. The child smells something good so Framea takes her into a pub where she is reunited with her father and the village elder!

Next chapter… the war is over and Rimuru has summoned Framea and Mjollemile for a very important mission… to get some spear tuna. That means we’re going on a fishing trip! After we finish that, it’s time to indulge ourselves in some mochi; however, Framea is asked to deliver some to a mansion that requires a password to get in. When she does… she’s captured and locked in a cage!

Characters

There wasn’t really much in terms of character development here. The only character that got any sort of meaningful spotlight was Masayuki. Dealing with being called the lightspeed hero really hit him hard. He doesn’t want this kind of attention and he feels it has been all downhill since he won the tournament. Even during the war chapter, Framea spotted people on the street cheering for him when Masayuki wasn’t even anywhere nearby. I thought that was a nice continuance of the gag and I got a chuckle out of it.

Carrera, Ultima, and Testarossa are still the same characters. They were arguing about different sadistic acts they performed on their journeys and even gloated about the roles they played in ending the very short-lived war

Outside of that, it was just one-off appearances by characters as a way to remind us that they still existed in the story.

Final Word

Last volume, I talked about how refreshing it was to see a long-running story arc, and yet, here we are back to episodic adventures. Nothing wrong with that as it gives us some bite-sized chunks of entertainment but there really wasn’t a sense of an overarching story between any of them. This was Framea moving from situation to situation once again.

Also, this may sound like a negative but it seems that the luster of this spinoff series has worn off. The original premise was to have Framea make a tour book for Tempest. Now that it’s completed, the series has kind of devolved into just throwing Framea into any little story possible to artificially keep the story going. Even Framea poked fun at it by yelling at Rimuru, telling him not to use “investigate” as a way to get her mixed up in things.

At this point, the filler content is even getting filler so it makes me wonder just how much longer this series can keep it up while remaining fresh. Again, that critique sounded negative but despite that, this wasn’t a bad volume. It was rather fun and light-hearted just as this series has been. I’m simply wondering how long it will continue to be around before it overstays its welcome.
