JoyMasher is developing the Love Child of Ninja Gaiden and Shadow of the Ninja

Vengeful Guardian Moonrider 1

The Arcade Crew is back at it again, this time with a game with heavy vibes from the Ninja Gaiden and Shadow of the Ninja, Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider.

The Arcade Crew and developer JoyMasher are happy to team up again and unsheathed Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider, a side-scrolling action platformer channeling the golden age of classic 16-bit action games in a refined, full-throttle quest for revenge.

Keep in mind that JoyMasher is the same team that brought us Blazing Chrome, an excellent replacement for Contra and a game I adored. I also couldn’t put it down for weeks. Now that Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider has been announced, I’m already drooling over this. By the way, if you haven’t played Blazing Chrome, you really should.

Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider’s design holds the best classic action game elements in the laser-precise sights of its starring ninja, keeping combat snappy, responsive and challenging. Powerful modifier chips are guarded and hidden throughout the adventure, allowing the cyborg super soldier to customize its fighting style while gaining killer advantages and abilities.

The game’s gorgeously bleak world expertly recreates the 16-bit era through intricate pixel art and crunchy audio, building a striking, compact gauntlet across eight deadly stages. Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider revels in top-notch, refined platforming action for a tight, focused experience that never lets its blade get dull.

Vengeful Guardian: Moonrider is coming to PlayStation, Switch, Amazon Luna, and PC this Fall 2022. Sadly, there’s no mention of any Xbox platforms.
