Backbone One- PlayStation Edition Mobile Controller Revealed

By Kyle SimcoxJuly 28, 2022
Backbone One PlayStation Edition

Mobile gaming, being the ever-growing Goliath that is, is constantly finding new ways to make it more accessible and inclusive for gamers. As far as hardware is concerned, the landscape is a little rocky, with the Android offering a bit more options than Apple products. Although, with that being said, Sony is looking to expand those options where Apple is concerned. Earlier today, PlayStation announced the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition for iPhones.

Recently, PlayStation shook up its online subscription service by offering a tiered service that includes access to game streaming, which Scott had some thoughts about. If you subscribe to the tiers that give players access to the streaming services, then you’re probably interested in your console’s “Remote Play” ability. One thing you’ll need in order to do this is a controller, and the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition is definitely worth picking up if you own an iPhone.

The PlayStation Edition boasts a design that mimics the exterior of the PS5’s DualSense controller. If you want the full details, then I encourage you to check out the device’s introduction over at the PlayStation.Blog.

The blog announcement also features a handy little sizzle reel showing the attachment being used in various situations. One thing to mention about the Backbone One, is that the attachment allows gamers to directly connect their Pulse 3D headsets to the device.

While I, myself, may not own an iPhone, the Backbone One is a win for gamers and iPhone users. God of War: Ragnarok and The Last of Us Remake are releasing just over the horizon, and we simply can’t just bring out PS5 consoles with us on the go. Unfortunately, the Backbone One – PlayStation Edition is exclusive to iPhones and Android users who have other options if they’re not interested in a Backbone controller.

The Backbone One PlayStation Edition is currently available and priced at $99.99 over at Backbone’s website and on Amazon.

I highly recommend the Razer Kishi v2. It sports a similar shape to the Backbone, it just doesn’t have the cool DualSense-inspired design. If you’re like me and you love collecting controllers, you’ll still buy this attachment even though you can’t use it.

I just really enjoy video games and talking about them. Also a big fan of everything else nerd culture as well. Well, almost everything.
