Super Mario Movie Producer Says Chris Pratt Has Done Great As Mario

By Todd BlackJune 21, 2022
Super Mario Movie, Chris Pratt

The Super Mario Movie is something that has been in the works for a long time, and it was meant to come out this year…but now will come out next year, which overall is fine. But, fans are still worried about what the movie will look/sound like, and that includes how it’ll sound having the one and only Chris Pratt as the voice of Mario himself. In fact, fans have made fun of it ever since the announcement due to the fact that Charles Martinet is absolutely available for the film. We even talked about this recently on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast.

One person who isn’t worried about this apparently is producer Chris Meledandri, who noted how Pratt has done in the role during the VO sessions:

“Chris was cast because we felt he could give a great performance as Mario. And now that we’ve done about 15 recording sessions, and the movie is three-quarters done, I sit here and say that I love his performance as Mario,” Meledandri told Variety.

While this may sound encouraging, he’s also the man behind the film in many ways…so take his words with a bit of bias. We’ll have to judge for ourselves when the movie launches in 2023.
