EA Motive’s Dead Space Remake Releases In January 2023

Today, EA Motive revealed that the Dead Space remake will be released on January 27, 2023.

Currently in development by Motive, Dead Space is a remake of the science fiction action horror title, Dead Space. But this isn’t just any remake, as EA Motive is going all out and has revealed that the game will include several enhancements while keeping the underlying game intact. These enhancements include visual updates, improved sound effects, and gameplay tweaks.

As a massive fan of Dead Space 1 and 2, I’ve been following the development of the Dead Space remake and I’ve been counting down the days until when the game will be playable.

Developing this remake has been a lot of fun for us at Motive, as we’re true fans of the franchise and want to treat it with the respect it deserves. It’s been equally exciting to see players’ reactions as we’re taking them on this development journey with us,” said Phillippe Ducharme, Senior Producer of Dead Space. “We’re making great progress on our road to hitting Alpha and we’re happy to announce that the game will be launching in January next year. We can’t wait for players, both old and new, to see how we’ve elevated the original experience in the remake to be just as impactful for this generation.

Dead Space will not make an appearance for the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and instead will be playable on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. I know this has been a subject of frustration for those who’ve played the earlier Dead Space titles. But it makes sense, as there aren’t the concerns of compromising for the sake of the weaker, past-generation consoles. Yes, it doesn’t help that it’s hard as can be to locate and purchase either the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. Still, cross-generation development has proven that it can wreck a game and is a subject that has been revisited due to the recent showcasing of Gotham Knights.

Along with the announcement of the release date, EA Motive released several new videos that showcase the development of Dead Space so far. These videos show off the new visual effects such as dynamic, volumetric lighting with atmospheric and environmental VFX rendered in full HDR. This game should look amazing once we’re able to play it next year.

Check out those videos below.
