Elden Ring Guide: Where To Find Deathroot

By Keith MitchellFebruary 23, 2022

In Elden Ring, the item called Deathroot, is useful in a specific quest. Now, while we won’t tell you which quest this is for, we will tell you how to get it. Besides, if you didn’t already need to know where it is, you wouldn’t be here.

Read on to find out where you can get your hands on some Deathroot.

Where to find Deathroot in Elden Ring?

Part of the trouble with Deathroot is that it only comes from one specific character. Yes, from a character. Throughout your journeys, you’ll eventually find yourself in a random fight against a named NPC called the Tibia Mariner. He’s easy to make out as he’ll have a purple-ish look to him. He’s also in a boat and will summon the undead to attack you. He’s like Elden Ring’s version of the Ferryman of the Dead.

You can usually find him around large bodies of water, and it seems there’s one encounter per location. Meaning the number of Deathroot is limited. At least, that’s what I’ve found out so far.

Once you beat the Tibia Mariner, you’ll be awarded the Deathroot. It’s that simple, and so are the fights.

Thanks for checking out our Elden Ring guides. We got plenty more where this came from, so keep on checking back.
