Soul Hackers 2 Hacks In On August 26

By William "Shadowz" KokFebruary 21, 2022
Soul Hackers 2

During the “Aion Live Broadcasting Sequence“, ATLUS has officially revealed Soul Hackers 2.

English Trailer

This time around you will take control of a female protagonist named Ringo. We see the return of the Soul Hacker device and a brand new cast of characters. The story is as follows:

The story takes place in the middle of the 21st century, a little further in the future than the present. One day, Aion, a supernatural being that watches over the world, detects its end.

Aion beings Ringo and Fig descend into the human world to avoid the cataclysm, but the targets they need to protect have already been killed. Ringo executes the Aion’s special “Soul Hack” ability, reviving the targets.

Given a “second chance,” Ringo and Fig join forces with the Devil Summoners, who have been resurrected from the brink of death, to pursue a mystery with the future of the world at stake.

Will they be able to avert ruin?

Go back into the virtual world and use your summoning device to face the demons of Shin Megami Tensei once again. Take in the sights of Japan and buy gear at the shops and improve your demons in a new circus-themed version of the Gouma-Den. We see that the game will take a cel-shaded art style in this iteration. Draws some similarities to games like The World Ends with You. We then see the trailer end with Ringo summoning a group of demons to attack an enemy at once and the protagonist Ringo introducing herself as a super-intelligent being born from the sea of information to prevent the apocalypse. A modern nod to Shin Megami Tensei’s Sea of Souls theme.

Ringo (CV: Tomoyo Kurosawa)

An Aion agent. A newborn being with a strong curiosity about society, culture, and human emotions. She stands in the front line with Arrow and other Devil Summoners, working hard to avert the end of the world.

Fig (CV: Nanako Mori)

An Aion agent, born at the same time as Ringo. She is cool and thoughtful. Guides Ringo at her own pace. She does not participate in combat directly but is responsible for analyzing information and providing logistical support.

Arrow (CV: Kaito Ishikawa)

A Devil Summoner belonging to the Phantom Society. He is one of the targets detected to be protected by Aion. He is usually a quiet, honest, and gentle young man. However, he is very passionate.

Milady (CV: Ami Koshimizu)

Soul-Hackers-2-4-scaled

A Devil Summoner and member of the Phantom Society, she accompanies Ringo for some reason. She is a rational and reasonable person who sometimes makes ruthless decisions. It seems that her past experiences have something to do with it.

Cyzo (CV: Masaya Matsukaze)

A freelance Devil Summoner. He’s a romantic and charming man with a good sense of humor. He’s good at reading the atmosphere and acting accordingly. He often intervenes between Arrow and Milady, who are often at odds with each other. Note his demonic Tommy gun for one of his attacks.

There is currently a Japan-only Premium 25th anniversary edition of the game for PS4 and PS5. This includes a Jack Frost plush doll dressed as Ringo or “AI Ho-kun” and the same DLC Jack Frost demon in-game,  3 CD Song Album that contains 30 songs with different versions and arrangements, a 100-page art book containing interviews from the staff, and special “Mary Style Maid Clothes DLC that allows players to change the main character Ringo’s costume to that of the character “Mary,” who gained popularity in Soul Hackers of the last game. No word of a similar edition will come to the West at time of report.

There is also a First Print version of the game that also includes a collaboration DLC with Persona 5. This includes Costumes of Joker, Panter, Skull, and Crow for the cast, BGM to change the Battle theme to “Keeper of Lust” of  Persona 5, and item accessory of the Phantom Thief Mask that increase Critical rate of shooting attacks.

Persona 5 DLC

The game will also include both English and Japanese voice-over options for those who prefer one or the other.

Soul Hackers 2 is set to release on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC on August 26, 2022.
