Futuristic anti-gravity racer Redout 2 announced

The anti-gravity racing game Redout 2 was revealed during the Saber Interactive December 2021 Showcase. This is the follow-up to the 2016 racing game, Redout, and not to be confused with the spin-off, Redout: Space Assault.

The original game was released a few years ago and helped fill the void that both Wipeout (not that silly gameshow game) and F-Zero have left wide open. It had a fantastic sense of speed, lots of futuristic tracks, and was a solid entry with a few sore spots.  It was one of my favorite racing games, and I’m hopeful that Redout2 will do what the original did and more.

Redout 2 is a tribute to classic arcade racing games and the sequel to the critically acclaimed Redout, where racing through the dystopian wastelands of a semi-abandoned Earth is one of the galaxy’s most popular sports. Reach impossible speeds in exhilarating futuristic races across an extensive single-player campaign and competitive multiplayer. Deep control systems, robust hovership customization, and a killer soundtrack make Redout 2 the premier anti-gravity racer. Redout 2 is being developed by 34BigThings and Saber Interactive.

What I didn’t see mentioned was if Redout 2 would support any of the current VR headsets. At least on the PC, the original Redout supported the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive, Fingers crossed that Redout 2 VR support gets announced as well.

Redout 2 has been announced for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, and PC, for a 2022 release.
