Can your PC play Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

We’re just a few weeks away from the release of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, developed by Edios-Montreal and published by Square Enix. While the game is being released for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Switch, GeForce, my platform of choice will be the PC. I enjoy tweaking the heck out of my games, and then there are the Nvidia RTX features that the game will support.

That said, there’s always that question of if your PC can play the game or not. Thankfully, we don’t have to wonder anymore as the PC-required specs have appeared on Steam. Just glancing over them, the requirements aren’t as demanding as you might think. Take a look at the PC requirements below.

Minimum system requirements

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64 bit Build 1803
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1400 / Intel Core i5-4460
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 / AMD Radeon RX 570
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 80 GB available space

Recommended system requirements

  • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
  • OS: Windows 10 64 bit Build 1803
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 / Intel Core i7-4790
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super / AMD Radeon RX 590
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Storage: 80 GB available space

A couple of things here to observe. The first is that the storage is no longer 150GB as previously mentioned, and instead is only 80GB. Of course, that’s just for the initial install. Once patches and updates get involved, the size is going to get larger.

Secondly, these requirements look to be playing the game at 1080p. For those looking to play at 1440p or 4K, the requirements will be much higher. Again, since the game will incorporate Nvidia’s RTX features, you’re also going to need an Nvidia RTX 2000 or 3000 series card, and those are incredibly hard to come by.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy releases on October 26th and will be available on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
