Death’s Door Boss Guide: How to defeat Witch of Urns

Hello, fellow Death’s Door adventurers! In this boss guide, I’ll show you how to take down the Witch of Urns, also known as Grandma. There’s a lot of things going on for your first major boss fight, but not to worry, she is easier to take down than she looks.

And yes, you are fighting someone’s Grandma, but don’t let that deter you.

How to defeat the Witch of Urns

Phase 1

When you approach the platform, the Witch of Urns will start to toss two different types of bombs at you; Purple and Teal. The purple bombs will do damage on contact, while the teal bombs will also hurt you but release a projectile that will follow you. You either dodge it until it goes away, but that would put you in more danger, or hit it away with your weapon. I recommend the latter. There is no specific order on how the Witch tosses the bombs, so keep an eye out. The Witch will occasionally do a twirl dancing to move to the get to the other side of the stage, be sure to dodge it.

When the Witch is showing that she’s damaged (red), she’ll start to toss extra bombs, so watch out for this.

Phase 2

During the second phase, the Witch will jump into an Urn and hop after you four times. Afterward, she’ll fire a barrage of projectiles around the stage in a circle pattern. You can just hit the projectiles with your sword, which can damage her, or you can dodge them.

When the Witch takes enough damage, she’ll also toss out projectiles in a star pattern before she starts to hop after you; watch for that while you’re doing damage to her.

She’ll repeat both phases until she’s dead, or you end up dead.

You can check out the fight below!
