See Lost Judgment Behind the Scenes Interview and Gameplay

By William "Shadowz" KokJuly 15, 2021

As we continue to wait for Lost Judgment, SEGA and Ryu Ga Gotoku studios has released a behind the scenes interview with protagonist Takayuki Yagami himself, Takuya Kimura. Also shown off is new gameplay for the game.

The interview was conducted by Yakuza’s series Director Toshihiro Nagoshi. When discussing about the role of detective Yagami, Takuya reflected on his co-stars on other shows and drama say to him that the finished Judgment (or Judge Eyes in Japan). When reprising the role, he somewhat underestimated this entry as the story this time is much more involved and deep with the characters he meets.

Toshihiro disclosed that one of the themes/keywords for Lost Judgment is “bullying”. As we do see a new area based on a high school, you can expect to see that kind of situation happen. And likely in the main game as well. We then seen the locales of Yokohama and of course Kamurocho. Naturally  the team did on site reference and research to capture the same settings and details of the real life locations within the game. A new change for Lost Judgment here is that no longer will you be able to play pinball at your home base of the Yagami Detective Agency. Instead it is now replaced with a full on SEGA Master system. You will be able to unlock more games for the system as you complete tasks and quest throughout the game. Good for all you retro fans.

We then see a bit more of the battle system, including the new Snake style. This style focuses on counter attacks and using opponents moves against them. We then see a bit more of the investigation aspect as now Yagami can climb and scale on pipes to get around ledges and buildings. Lastly, we see a mini game in which Yagami partakes in Boxing. It shows two stamina bars for your head and body. Make sure you dodge right and you able to land a solid bow on your enemies.

Toshihiro concluded that this will be an experience that players and fans can look forward to. Whether or not you are a newbie or a long time fan, he says that this story and character will have a great impact on you.

Lost Judgment is set for September 24 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
