Netherrealm Studios ends support for Mortal Kombat 11

If you were hoping to see one more DLC for WB Games and Netherrealm Studios Mortal Kombat 11, you’re out of luck. Today, Netherrealm has officially announced that they are no longer supporting the title after doing so for two years. That means no more fighter packs, no more DLC, nothing — It’s all over.

Now, the company is focusing on its next game, whatever that is.

NetherRealm is now focusing on its next project and after more than two years of supporting Mortal Kombat 11, DLC for the game, including characters, has come to an end.

This is slightly disappointing as the studio did show off several different skins and redesigns for characters who never made it into the game. And I swore I remember Ed Boom constantly stating that Mortal Kombat 11 would be supported much longer than prior games.

I suppose all good things must come to an end, and with that, I’m curious as to what Netherrealm is working on now. Is the next project another fighting game? Are they still using Unreal Engine 3, or will they make the jump to Unreal Engine 5? There were several Injustice 3 rumors making the rounds on the internet, despite Ed Boon squashing those. Or perhaps, they’re working on something completely new.

How do you feel about Netherrealm no longer supporting Mortal Kombat 11? Let us know in the comments below, or hit me up on Twitter at @Shadowhaxor, and let’s talk.
