No More Heroes 3 Treehouse Demonstration Brings the Punk

By William "Shadowz" KokJune 16, 2021

While not part of the main Treehouse demonstration at E3, Nintendo released a new preview of Travis’s newest adventure of No More Heroes 3.

At the beginning of the demonstration, we see more of the game in action with combat. The enemies are the same geometric enemies that we saw back in the initial reveal trailer. We see the layout is the same, but now in full HD. Quick and heavy attacks are the same, and control options can be switch between motion controls or a standard controller. Good for those who want to stick to the original control scheme of the first game. Each attack slowly drains the battery, and you need to charge it back up. The good ol’ motions of recharging should be familiar to any fan or those past adolescent ages.

As reported prior, powers/skills from Travis Strikes Again can be equipped. For this showcase, it is a simple dropkick. After the mission, you will be graded on your performance. Course this can be attempted again for a better grade and rewards.

Some details to point out. As this still in production, graphics and textures on the world are omitted on the trucks and the world. Plus, it seems that with the action going on, there is some visible slow down on the frames. Here hopes that it gets ironed out before August.

In the next part, we see Travis’s motel room and how it has changed throughout the series. You can change your outfits, view collectibles, and, most importantly, play with your cat Jeane. Funny enough, Jeane will insult you if you play with her poorly. What is new is that now Travis’ home has a basement in which he can upgrade his base stats the death skills and order sushi to go. Sharp-eyed viewers can see that Dr. Naomi is back to help Travis. However, there are so many questions here to ask. Like why is there a Sakura tree with a face on it?

Lastly, we see a boss fight with the flamboyant Gold Joe. We see briefly that the cat Jeane actually speaks to Travis in a deep voice. The reason why? Likely we will figure out when the game releases. Here we continue to see Travis Touchdown and his 4th wall-breaking wit that we all and love.  The boss battle itself is unique as it utilizes magnets that Travis properly described. This battle continues to prove just how creative and unique these battles can be throughout the No More Heroes series. The bosses, the conversation that takes place before the fight, it all goes to show the tPreview Changes (opens in a new tab)alent from SUDA 51 and Grasshopper Manufacture. Also, a nice feature is that if you fail at a boss fight, you get to spin a roulette wheel with a change of an attack multiplier.

Rounding out the presentation, we get an appearance from Suda himself to inform of the status of the game and some bonuses. For those who have save data from the prior games on Switch, you will get clothes from those games, like the Bizarre Jelly anime that Travis watches.

Overall, No More Heroes 3 is looking very promising, and the August 27th release date cannot come fast enough. Welcome back to the garden of madness assassins.
