Contraband announced exclusive to Xbox and PC, new project from Just Cause team

By Poch SaldanaJune 13, 2021

Xbox showcased a bevy of new announcements with one of them being a brand-new project from Avalanche Studios, the studio behind the open-world chaos of Just Cause and Mad Max. Check out the teaser trailer below.

Deemed “a co-op smuggler’s paradise”, no gameplay was shown of Contraband but a few details were shared regarding the game’s setting. According to a blog post from Avalanch Studios,

In Contraband, players will take on the roles of smugglers exploring the fictional Southeast Asian world of 1970s Bayan. Contraband is brought to life by the latest iteration of Avalanche Studios Group’s Apex Engine and built to take full advantage of Xbox Series X and the console’s unique capabilities.

The game is a product of a partnership between Xbox Game Studios and Avalanche Studios meaning it’ll come exclusively to Xbox Series X|S and PC. No release date or window was revealed so we can expect the game to come out in the far, far future.

Big fan of games, writing, and writing about games! Two things Poch will always stand by--the Vita was ahead of its time and the world is a better place with a new Rhythm Heaven on the horizon.
