The Future Is Looking Bright For The Indie RPG Star Renegades

Earlier today, the official Twitter account for Star Renegades announced Massive Damage’s plans for the remainder of 2021.  In this new roadmap, the team outlined the current status of the 1.3.3 update, as well as what they’ll be working on for the remainder of the year. Some of the stuff outlined is stuff that’s been requested, while other is new content that sounds like another reason to jump back into the game.

Check out the 2021 roadmap for Star Renegades below:

Update 1.3.3 – Currently being submitted to all platforms for certification.

  • Contains several memory savings and changes that drastically reduce memory spikes to make crashing less common. 

Update 1.4

  • Adds a new hero to the game, The Guardian – The ultimate damage-soaking tank with the ability to bend reality.
  • New Rebel Base Building: The Metaverse Relationship Tracker – This new building will provide the ability to survey all current heroes’ unlocked relationships across all realities and replay key moments in their bonding.

Update 1.5

  • Adds the Prime Dimension, the true home of the Imperium, as a new reality.
  • The Epilogue, adds two new behemoths: The Grand Marshal and The Overlord, to the game.

Update 1.6 

  • Adds a quickplay mode, allowing players to jump straight into a game and removes everything but the core gameplay – great for speed runs.
  • New Challenge mode that lets you tinker with the gameplay and cater it to your liking.
  • New Daily Challenge mode will allow players to compete against other players and track scores via a daily leaderboard.

There’s no word on when we can expect to see these updates per the roadmap.

These updates sound pretty awesome and only serve to make the game even more attractive. I’ll admit, when I first heard about this game, I was hesitant. But thanks to our resident Indie gamer, Matthew Paul, I gave it a try, and I loved it. It also didn’t hurt that the game was available via Xbox Game Pass. Yes, it did kick my ass a few times, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. I can’t wait to give the new hero a try, and the challenge mode sounds interesting.

Star Renegades is currently available on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4. Xbox One, and PC.
