Despite Google Being Very Experienced With Search Bars, Stadia Is Only Now Getting One After 16 Months

A search function for an online streaming service seems like a no-brainer, but Google Stadia has not had one for its entire life-cycle. That is, until now. It only took 16 months but today the Stadia Twitter announced that the service’s Web store is getting a search bar. How they did not think this was a necessity from the start is beyond me.

The Stadia Community Blog went into a little bit more detail about this revolutionary advancement in search functionality. Players will now be able to type in the name of a game into the new search bar and then that game will show up on your feed as if by some manner of dark magic.

In all seriousness, I’m not sure how Stadia took this long to implement a search bar into their storefront. It’s clearly something that should have been available from the start. It will surely make the players who stuck around happy. Better late than never, I suppose.

The announcement of the search bar also came with some added features to the overall UI. An activity feed is being added where you can see friends’ captures and game progress. Also, a more detailed sorting system for your library is on the way. You’ll now be able to sort by purchased, free, or Pro games.

The search update will be rolling out to players this week while the activity feed and library updates will have official dates announced shortly.
