Nier Replicant Remake Has Gone Gold

By Keith MitchellApril 7, 2021

It’s almost here, and I can’t wait!

Fans looking forward to Square Enix’s and Platinum Games remaster of NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139 will be happy to know that the game has gone gold. For those not in the know, the expression means that the game’s data has been shipped to be pressed into those lovable flying discs that you’ll eventually buy in stores. And yes, it also means the game will be sent to online stores for purchase as well.

The official Twitter account for the title shared the news earlier today, and I couldn’t be happier. I’ll explain why in a moment.

Nier Replicant is a remaster of the original game, Nier.  A title that few of us have played, including me. I regretted that for years, and even more so after playing Nier: Automata. A game that I adored so much that I purchased the Japanese copy due to Square Enix not providing a release date for the West. Then when Square Enix provided the Westen release date, I picked that up. And then again, when the game made its way to the PC, yes, I tripled dipped to show my support for the game.

So you can imagine that I’ve following the development of Nier Replicant for quite some time. Thanks to Platinum Games’ involvement, the game has many of the attributes that Nier: Automata was afforded; it’s faster, the company is leaps and bounds better, and the story has been tweaked; I can’t wait.

I suppose we can thank the success of Nier: Automata, basically willing the Nier Replicant title into existence. While the game may be similar to greeting a friend you haven’t seen in a long time, for me, it will be like being introduced to my new best friend. And I’m looking forward to that.

Now, if only I can snag the Nier Replicant White Snow edition that has been eluding me for months.

Nier Replicant releases this April 23rd, 2021, for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC (Steam). It will be backward compatible with the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
