Days Gone Arrives On PC This Spring 2021

Sony isn’t done bring PlayStation games to the PC and has announced that Days Gone is the next major PlayStation title headed to the PC. Days Gone will be headed to the PC this Spring 2021. There isn’t any word on if this will arrive on either Steam or the Epic Games Store.

Surprise. #DaysGone comes to PC this spring. Stay tuned for more details. pic.twitter.com/vcSYSKgOtn

In a GQ interview with PlayStation’s Jim Ryan, there were a lot of things discussed. Such as the next-gen PlayStation VR, PS5 shortages, PlayStation at Home, Gran Turismo 7, and PlayStation games on PC. It was then that the bomb was dropped that Days Gone, formerly of the PS4, would be heading to the PC this Spring 2021. This follows a port, flawed but enjoyable, Horizon Zero Dawn, that was released August 2020.

“What about PlayStation games on PC? A whole slate of them is on the way starting with Days Gone this spring”, explained by Jim Ryan to GQ.

I’m happy to see that PlayStation is still forging ahead with bringing titles to the PC, and if I could ask, I’d love to see a port of Bloodborne for the PC. Or heck, bring Gran Turismo Sport to the PC. Can you imagine playing that on an ultrawide screen or a dual/triple monitor setup? C’mon, Sony, make that happen.

As for the Days Gone port, I can only hope that it takes cues from the Death Stranding port over the Horizon Zero Dawn port. As an advocate for PC gaming, I want to see all the bells and whistles; ultrawide screen support, DLSS 2.0, and yes, Ray Tracing. I want it all!

When Sony first announced that they were bringing its catalog of PlayStation games to PC, it was met with mixed reactions. Some loved the idea. Others weren’t fans of it and insisted that PlayStation games should stay on PlayStation hardware. I am firmly in the camp that believes that people should be able to play games wherever they want, and that is why I am a fan of Microsoft and Xbox’s approach to bringing Xbox titles to the PC. Giving gamers more options to play games where they want is always a good move. For those complaining about PlayStation games being playable on PC, this is a win/win for Sony. Not only does it bring in more money to the company, cause in point with Horizon Zero Dawn, which was a top-seller on Steam and went on to sell over 400,000 copies on Steam in August 2020.

Funny enough, I’ve been called a “hater of the PlayStation brand” because I support PlayStation games on PC. I don’t know what to say to that, other than I have nothing but the utmost respect for Sony, and while I don’t always agree with them, this move is smart. If I’m a hater because of that, then I suppose I’ll keep on being a hater. And who knows. Maybe with the added sales, this could get Bend Studio to consider a follow-up to the game.

Be sure to read the entire interview over at GQ. Lots of great information to be found.
