Bloober Team’s Next Game Might Actually Be A Silent Hill Reboot

It looks like Silent Hill, Konami’s series of pachinko machines and sometimes legendary survival horror franchise might be finally making a comeback. Bloober Team, who just released The Medium, could likely be the team bringing it back to life if speculation is to be believed. The studio has been playing coy with what their next project will actually be. All they have confirmed so far is that their next title will be for an already established horror IP from a “famous gaming publisher.”

A report from VGC shed a bit more light on things. Reliable sources did inform them that Konami was exploring multiple angles for a Silent Hill reboot. So could essentially be getting two different takes on the horror franchise. One from a currently unnamed Japanese developer and then the Bloober Team title if that one turns out to be a reality. It would mark a major departure for Konami as they would seldom ever outsource the development of their original properties.

A lot of this is still very much speculation and fans optimistically putting two and two together. This does also come on the heels of longtime Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka making claims that he will be doing the score for another Bloober Team title after providing music for The Medium. A lot of dots have assuredly been connected and they don’t seem like huge leaps to make given all of the evidence available.

Silent Hill has had a rough few years. The last proper entry was Silent Hill: Downpour way back in 2012. And then, of course, there was P.T. back in 2015. The pseudo-demo for Hideo Kojima and Guillermo del Toro’s Silent Hills was canceled by Konami after a falling out with Kojima. Aside from a few inconsequential ports and an appearance in Dead By Daylight, the franchise has pretty much stalled and left fans wondering if it’s completely dead. At this point, we all just have to wait and see what happens in the coming months. Hopefully the timing is right and we’ll be back in the fog-covered streets of Silent Hill after all.
