Monster Hunter Rise Demo Arrives Tomorrow

By Keith MitchellJanuary 7, 2021

It’s not today like they originally teased!

During today’s Monster Hunter Rise Digital Event, Capcom announced that a playable demo would be released. While it was initially shown that the demo would be released on Jan 7th, 2021, it’s actually being released tomorrow, Jan. 8th, 2021, and will be playable until Feb. 1st, 2021. This is good to know as I was going crazy, checking the Nintendo eShop every five minutes.

Take control.

During the live stream, it was previously mentioned that the demo was going to drop on Jan. 7th, 2021 – which is today. Why you gotta go and bait us all, Capcom?

Monster Hunter Rise Demo

This demo will be beefy, similar to the first Monster Hunter World demo. Included will be the following;

  • Training – Learn the basics of monster hunting, including an introduction to the new Wirebug mechanic and Palamute riding. Solo play only.
  • Wyvern Riding – Enter an arena to experience Wyvern Riding, a new feature that allows hunters to ride and guide monsters for a period of time. Solo play only.
  • Beginner Quest: Great Izuchi – Ideal for first time players or hunters who need a refresher course. Solo play, local multiplayer, and online multiplayer.
  • Intermediate Quest: Mizutsune – A fierce challenge for experienced players only. Solo play, local multiplayer and online multiplayer.

To play online, you will need a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online. According to Capcom, all the 14 weapon types will be available as well. However, it doesn’t look like any saved data and profession will transfer to the full version of the game.

So if you’re looking forward to the game but concerned about the performance, like I am, this demo should be a good indicator of what to expect. I’m super excited by this game, but again, we’ve seen that the Switch (no disrespect) has a bit of a performance issue. That said, I’m looking to seeing what sort of wizardry that Capcom has pulled off in this regard.

There was also news of new monsters being added to Monster Hunter Rise, which we’ll cover in another article later on today.

Monster Hunter Rise releases exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on March 26, 2021. Are you going to play the demo, or are you a fan of the series? Sound off in the comments!
