Jordan Peele’s Next Horror Film Hits Theaters in Summer 2022

By Sara Roncero-MenendezNovember 10, 2020
Writer-director Jordan Peele says that making Get Out represents his "truest passion."

Is it just me or does 2020 feel eternal? Well, director Jordan Peele is giving us something to look forward to. His latest project will be hitting silver screens (assuming we can make it to the movies by then) in Summer 2022.

Details on this project are sparse at this time. We know he’s making the film with Universal Pictures, where he signed a five-year overall feature deal for two feature films. Now, if this is one of the two films specifically, we’re not sure. Peele is also a big horror producer, so it might be a project directed by someone else. However, if it is one of the two films Peele is making with Universal, then he will be writing, directing and producing it.

According to Bloody Disgusting, Peele teased Issue #3 of Fangoria that he was planning a film that’d aim to be scarier than both his previous films, Get Out and Us. If this is the film in question, then that’s certainly something to look forward to. Still, I think it’s safe to say that just about any horror film is going to pale in comparison to the nightmare that was 2020. Or maybe that’s just me.

This isn’t Peele’s only project coming through. He produced and co-wrote Nia DaCosta’s Candyman, set to come out in 2021. He is also working on a remake of Wes Craven’s 1991 horror satire The People Under the Stairs.

A reporter by trade, Sara is a lover of horror, sci-fi, and all things pop culture. From indies to classics to even the strangest schlock, all movies and TV shows are fair game. She believes Batman is the most fascinating superhero, and that Silent Hill is one of the best horror franchises ever made (as long as you don't count the movies). Fun Fact: The only movie Sara will not rewatch is The Room -- once was more than enough.
