Get ready for another Netflix price increase

Streaming giant Netflix has announced that it is about to raise pricing yet again for its US-based customers.

According to Netflix’s Help Center, the company will see price increases for both the Standard and Premium tiers. Standard, which saw a price hike in 2019 to $12.99, will see a $1 price hike and is priced at $13.99. While Netflix’s more popular service, Premium, which allows streaming on four devices simultaneously (TV/PC/Mobile Device) and Ultra HD content, will see a $2 increase and bring the monthly cost to $17.99.

This marks the 4th time that Netflix’s Premium service has seen a price increase, and the 5th time that the Standard service pricing has been raised. Before, you could agree that Netflix’s pricing was competitive with its competitors, but with the pricing for its best service now sitting at $18, this is no longer the case. For example, HBO Max is currently priced at $14.99 and offers 3 screens access at once. Like Netflix, it also has access to a large variety of media, including original content. Another advantage of HBO Max is that all of DC Universes content, including Snyder Cut of Justice League, will be heading to the service as WarnerMedia has announced its plans to kill off DC Universe.

As for Netflix, this price hike may have many wondering if the service is still worth it. Especially right after the company canceled several of its original shows, including The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, Altered Carbon, and Glow.

For me, $18 a month is a bit much, especially since I’m already paying for Disney+, HBO Max, and Amazon Prime. Adding to that, I rarely watch Netflix as it is. The only saving grace is that Netflix is the only place I can watch Cobra Kai.
