Devil May Cry 5 SE won’t feature Ray Tracing Support on Xbox Series S

Capcom has finally answered if the upcoming Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition for Xbox Series S would support Ray Tracing effects. It turns out; it won’t.

In a recent tweet from Capcom, the company hypes up the Xbox Series X|S title with high frame rates up to 120 fps, enhanced audio, and reduced loading times. Toss in some news regarding the legendary dark knight mode, which gets everyone excited. They then drop the dagger, with the Xbox Series S not supporting Ray Tracing at all.

It feels like Xbox Series S owners are getting the raw end of the deal here, and I’m sure many of them would have liked Capcom come out about this sooner. I doubt this is the last time we’ll hear about the Xbox Series S not getting features that the Xbox Series X will.  For those picking up Devil May Cry 5 on Xbox Series X, you’ll have to download the Ray Tracing support. I suppose this is how Capcom is making sure that Ray Tracing doesn’t “accidentally” make its way over to the Xbox Series S. Though, given the performance hit that Ray Tracing introduces and given that the Xbox Series S doesn’t pack as much power under the hood as the Xbox Series X, this was expected.

Devil May Cry 5 SE releases alongside the Xbox Series X|S on November 10th, 2020.
